Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors Arrive in Lagos for the 13th Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF)

Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors are in Lagos for the 13th Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), and entertainment timelines have talked about little else since Monday 2 November. Fans across the diaspora have been sharing the pictures and reacting as they came in.

The couple are reportedly there to back the festival rather than to do a standard promotional run. That detail is a big part of why the visit has people talking.

According to HipTV, Good and Majors, the Creed III star, arrived early in the week and went straight into the city's creative scene.

The coverage shows them at festival venues with filmmakers, directors and Nollywood veterans, and meeting independent writers and rising directors face to face. It also suggests they were curious about the fresh, non-linear scripts coming out of the continent. Nothing they've said on the record about that has surfaced yet.

Majors kept to his usual rugged, thoughtful look. Good brought full red-carpet glamour. Fans have had plenty to say about the outfits, and about how at ease the two looked next to local industry figures.

AFRIFF has long been seen as a link between African talent and the big Western studios and streaming platforms, so supporters are reading this visit as a sign that African film is being taken seriously. Some commentators go further and say Nollywood is getting its due on the world stage. That's their view, not something the couple have confirmed.

No collaborations or new projects have been announced.
