'RHOA' Star Porsha Williams' Ex-Husband Simon Guobadia Indicted on Two Federal Tax Charges

Simon Guobadia, the businessman and ex-husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, has reportedly been indicted by federal prosecutors in Georgia over allegations of filing false tax returns. TMZ reports that the indictment was returned on Tuesday 27 October, according to court documents.

He faces two counts of allegedly aiding or assisting in the preparation and filing of false federal tax returns. These are allegations, and an indictment is not a finding of guilt.

Prosecutors allege that in March 2021 Guobadia reported $0 in taxable income, even though they say he knew his real earnings were higher. His company, Simcol Petroleum Limited, reportedly recorded more than $45 million in gross sales over the same period.

The indictment further alleges that in July 2021 he reported only $58,231 in taxable income, while the company recorded nearly $31 million in gross sales. Prosecutors claim he knew both his taxable income and the company's gross sales were significantly higher than the figures declared.

It helps to know that gross sales and taxable income are different measures. Sales are revenue before expenses, while taxable income accounts for deductions. A big gap between the two is not automatically illegal. The government's allegation is that Guobadia knowingly gave false financial information in the filings.

Court records also indicate that an arrest warrant has been issued, although it is unclear whether he has been taken into custody.

Georgia Secretary of State records identify Guobadia as the registered agent of Simcol Petroleum Limited Company, established on 31 January 2007. The company operates in the petroleum industry and has been associated with supplying refined fuel products across the south-eastern United States.

Guobadia married Williams in November 2022, and she filed for divorce in February 2024 after about 15 months of marriage. Earlier this year, Williams reportedly secured their multimillion-dollar Atlanta mansion and a seven-figure settlement following their highly publicised divorce.

Guobadia was deported from the United States in 2025 amid immigration-related issues.
