The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed the arrest of the father-in-law of 28-year-old widow, Tosin, following widespread outr@ge over allegations that she was being hara§ sed and intimidated by her late husband's family barely eight days after his dtath.
In an update report, the agency said it had established contact with Tosin after the case went viral online.
According to the DSVA, the widow alleged that she had been subjected to threats to her life, physical ass@ult and intimidation following the recent dtath of her husband.
The agency disclosed that Tosin had already reported the incident to the Owutu Police Division before it intervened.
It added that preliminary feedback from the police confirmed that the alleged perpetrator, identified by activist Harrison Gwamnishu as the deceased's father, had been arrested and is currently in custody.
The statement read in part, "The Agency successfully established contact with the survivor, who alleged that she had been subjected to threats to her life, physical affault, and intimidation following the recent dtath of her husband."
It further stated, "Preliminary feedback from the Police confirms that the alleged perpetrator has been arrested and is currently in custody, while investigations continue."
The DSVA said investigations are ongoing.
