AY Apologises to Cardiff Fans After Payment Dispute Derails His Show

Fans who paid for AY Live in Cardiff on Sunday 25 October waited hours and still never saw the comedian perform. On Monday, AY Makun apologised and put the blame on an unresolved payment dispute.

The show was meant to take place at Valegate Retail Park, as part of his "AY Live: Single and Not Searching" UK tour. In a statement on Instagram, AY said he and the other comedians travelled to Cardiff and did get into the venue. Unresolved payment commitments held up their appearance, he said, and by the time they reached the hall most of the audience had gone home.

Now, only one side of this is on record. AY described the row as one with the organisers, and no figures or details have come out. When The Eagle Online filed its report, the organisers had not publicly explained what happened or announced any refund arrangements.

His apology was direct. "You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute," he wrote. He called on the organisers and the UK tour management to give ticket holders a clear resolution, refund details included, and said verified updates would come through his official channels.

Premium Times adds that AY told Cardiff ticket holders they can ask their bank or card provider about a payment dispute or chargeback for the show. Some headlines say he promised refunds. The wording quoted elsewhere is a call on the organisers to provide them, so treat refunds as not yet confirmed.

The tour carries on, with dates reported for Birmingham on 30 October, London on 31 October and Manchester on 1 November. If you have tickets for any of those, keep your booking confirmation handy and watch AY's own channels for updates.

Have you ever turned up to an event that never quite happened? What did you do about the money?
